How I have been sweating and smiling

As a personal trainer and the owner of Sweat and Smile personal Training I know it's important to remain fit myself and so you will often see me running around Tideswell. You will know it's me as I often wear clothes with my name and number on it. Also I do a lot of mountain biking and even though I do guided mountain bike rides I feel that before i take people out I need to see the route for myself.
I have in the past two weeks found three execllent routes one that takes in Monsal Head and Bakewell. The other two were around Ladybower and Castleton.
What made these special was I started the rides from Tideswell, and they have now been added to the guided mountain bike rides in the Peak District that we at Sweat and Smile offer.

June 2011

May 2011
This month will also see me racing at Buxworth 5m, Sheffield and Eyam half marathons.
I also will be running a boot camp up in Scotland at the request of 5 clients who are going away for a Hen week, so i hope to get some mountain biking in.

Buxworth 5 miles was a brilliant race and it was good to be back in the yellow and green of striders of croydon, the course was a 1 lap course with plenty of hills in it. A bit upset i did not break 40 mins, will do so next year.

Eyam, i ran a blinder i have tried for many years to break 1.50 on that course it is the hardest 1/2 marathon i have ever run and i reckon it about 15 mins slower than a flatter course, i did it and broke 1.50 i did 1.48.55. i promised myself i would not do it again, however Ben not wants to be 1.50 and has challenged me to have a go for 1.44.

I am running with a friend at the Holymoorside 10k and the Chatsworth 10k, where her goal is to run under 1hour. she should be able to do both.

Will keep you up dated on things

Holymoorside 10k went well, I Had 13 clients enter and all 13 did the times they wanted and 9 got personal bests, 1 client got a massive pb and knocked 9 minutes of her best time.

Since Holymoorside 10k, myself and a couple of friends have raced the Eyam Half Marathon, this was followed by The White Peak half and the Chatsworth 10k. Both these races were raced in extreme heat.

Guided Mountain bike rides had a morning out today and cycled around Holymoorside.
We also have just come back from riding around Hayfield and Hadfield.

Our Saturday morning running group has been using the Tissington trail and i have managed to take a number of ladies down to Millers Dale and Litton Mill where they have been doing some good speed work.

Over the next month we have Wakes Week in Tideswell and there are two races, the inter inn's run and a fell race, both of which there will be a number of runners from the Tideswell Circuit class.

Wakes week in Tideswell is upon use and instead of the usual circuit class on Monday we did a 9 mile guided mountain bike ride, led by me of course. We took in the sights of Wheston and a few of use added a steep descent down into Monksdale.

Thursday there is the inter inn's run starting at Millers Dale and ending at the Star pub in Tideswell

This week I have done 2 races firstly the Tideswell inter inn's run where i came 3rd senior male and on Friday I ran in the Tideswell Fell race where i ran with a friend who want to get a PB, which she did by over 5mins

Saturday was our usual morning bike ride, this time we did 9 miles around Tideswell, Wheston  and Miller Dale. This was a short ride due to the Tideswell Wakes Week fair and fete.

Took a friend from Tideswell mountain biking, we ended up at Parsley Hay and ended up biking to Ashborne where we got his wife to meet us.

Litton Mill and Millars Dale have both seen a lot of activity from myself and a few fellow runners on our thursday and saturday running groups. We have managed to get a few speed sessions there.

This weekend saw the Buxton carnival 5 mile race though i did not race i did mange to see some plays the the fringe. I did manage 1 bike ride which was 15 miles in total and started at Parsley Hay, we cycled along the track and saw some wonderful sites taking in the sites of Middleton, following the road till we reached Long Dale I would suggest if you had the chance then get me to take you as it is well worth the visit and finally we got to Pikehall

This week saw me start a jog Derbyshire group in Buxton, which went really well and had a few new runners that had never run before.

Also went mountan biking over in Glossop, the ride went up the Snake pass and down a few rough tracks, the ride was quite hard
This has week has been a bit hard, i raced the Chesterfield 10mile on sunday and did really well my legs only this morning have stopped aching.

I have the Great Yorkshire 10k this sunday and i hope to do well. I did in fact do better than i wanted.

This past month has been busy for me, i have had a holiday that involved plenty of running and mountain biking. Also it a the start of JD Tideswell group and lastly i have spent hours learning music for the new spin class

Well October was a busy month for me it saw the launch of the new spin class in Tideswell, have done a few mountain bike rides in the dark peaks.
Running wise i have raced a the Great South Run and also at Heanor, where i ran with a client. I am at cheddelton on saturday and the Percy Pud on the 5th.
To be honest i have spent more time teaching and learning spin

Percy Pud race on the 5th December was cancelled and due to the bad weather i did not race a Cheddelton, abit gutted about both races. But i have managed 2 mountain bike rides 1 started in Tideswell and ended in Buxton with a ride back along the same route, the ride was down to Cressbrook and back
.
It has been a while since i updated this page and i have managed to do plenty of running and MBR, i have also been doing a spot of fund rasing and did a 12 hour spin marathon for the charity CRY
